Ashley: Welcome, thanks for listening! I’ve asked Michelle to explain chakras in the most basic way that she can, so I’m excited to hear what she has to share.
Michelle: Thanks Ashley! Chakras are an interesting energy that we all have. The most basic way to describe it would be that our body is made up of more than just skin, bones, organs, blood and guts. There’s so much more to the body than just the physical realm. Chakras are energy, and we all have energy, we all exert energy, we all receive energy, and we all give energy.
The first basic understanding is to think, “Hey I have chakras!” and to think about them, and get a visual. We talk about our body as if it is a rainbow, because our body is broken down into seven main chakras: we have the root which is red, we have our sacral chakra which is orange, we have our solar plexus chakra which is like the sun- the power that’s right in our center in our rib cage, and that’s yellow, and we have our heart chakra which is green, our throat chakra which is blue, our third eye chakra is an indigo, and our crown chakra which is violet.
We all have those seven basic chakras. We can refer to them as colors and they all have a name, but they all carry their own frequency and vibration, and they support something different in our life. These energy chakras support us physically, they support us emotionally and they support us mentally. When we tune in to the magic of that unseen support we can start to live a more aligned or with a more wholesome understanding of life on a bigger spectrum and that’s really exciting. When our chakras are vibrating at their full potential our life is going to feel happier and upbeat, more in alignment. It can be so so simple if we just have the tools and the language to understand how we can support ourselves in a holistic kind of way.
Ashley: What might it feel like if something was unbalanced or out of alignment? How might I recognize that?
Michelle: With the throat chakra you might be struggling to speak your truth or being silenced, that’s how I know that my throat chakra is out of alignment. When I feel discomfort in speaking my truth, I know that my throat chakra probably needs me to nurture it. Another example that we can probably all relate to is last March when covid hit and we started to gain momentum of fear. That probably made many people, including myself, feel unsafe, insecure and unstable. Living in this unknown, not feeling grounded, that’s your root chakra. We want to tune into each and every chakra that we have, but sometimes one will be out of alignment. If our root is out of alignment, we’re not going to feel comfortable until we address it. How can we feel safe? What’s making us feel insecure?
If I know that something is out of alignment in my root chakra, I need to sit with it and ask where is this fear coming from? It can be a really deep journey, and it can be a very simple journey too. There are many energy bodies, or chakras of the body, but focusing on those main seven have helped me tremendously in my growth over the last few years. I don’t want to get too deep here, but sometimes it can be ancestral too, sometimes it’s not even our own fear that we’re feeling- it’s deep in our genetics and our dna, in our energy field that we entered this earth with. Recognizing that you might feel out of whack, doing the work, nurturing yourself and bringing awareness to the space on that chakra level is so helpful if you feel out of alignment.
It’s just like anything else, once you pop the top there’s so much more to learn. It’s fun, it’s productive and it’s very beneficial.
Ashley: Thank you very much for meeting with me this morning, are there any final words or parting thoughts that you want to share before we wrap things up?
Michelle: I would say to get curious. Try a new way, and if this isn’t your thing, or you’re not sure that you really have chakras- get curious and go check it out. I think that a lot of people will be surprised just how easy it will be to tune into their chakras. There’s nothing to be afraid of and working with your chakras is a lot of fun.
