One way I monitor my own self-care/wellness/balance is if I’m actively reading or not. If I’m not reading for pleasure in leisure time, I’m too busy or too “Netflixing”. I also love continually learning and books not only take me different places, but fill my brain with new knowledge, things to learn more about and “I wonders”. I decided to review some books I’ve read this summer. I read a wide eclectic mix.
In short:
Based in London in the 1700’s.
Historical fiction focused on a 15 year old girl who lives in poverty and wants more for herself than to sew for others or be a maid.
Addresses themes of sexism, prostitution and slavery.
Dark & dreary read but interesting and informative.
All starts when she eyes a red ribbon that she wants to have.
