I prioritize waking up gently and ease into the day. Before even un-tucking from the sheets I meditate. I use the Serenity app because I like the guided meditations and it’s free to download but has in-app subscriptions available. I worked my way through their free sessions months ago and was hooked, so I paid to subscribe. I’ve easily done over a hundred different sessions now. Each session is less than 12 minutes so I find it reasonable to make the time to meditate. Acknowledging three things that you’re grateful for at the end of each session helps me focus on the positives. I use to fear falling back asleep but I’ve learned to stay mindfully present. I love starting my day with meditation and here are four reasons why:
1.) I value starting the day in a quiet way
If I woke to my alarm and stumbled over letting my dogs out, feeding the cats, letting the dogs back in and feeding them- my days would start in a frazzled way. Starting the day with meditation sets the tone for a calm, mindful, and productive day. The animals all know the routine now and don’t seem to mind.
2.) I have less excuses
If I tried meditating later I know I wouldn’t do it, other to-do’s would take over even if I had the best of intentions. I tried meditating at night before and would fall asleep. The morning is the perfect time for me to make time to meditate.
3.) I feel accomplished before I’m even out of bed
By meditating every morning and sticking to my goals, I’m showing the Universe that I’m in charge of my day and crushing it. I start the day feeling fantastic, grounded, aware, and clear-headed- like nothing can stop me.
4.) I stop stress in its tracks
Meditation leads to increased happiness, better sleep, and more creativity. Why wouldn’t I start my day this way?
